There’s something beautifully lasting about the bond between a grandmother and her grandchildren. Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing one grandmother who’s presence in her grandsons’ lives continues to inspire me. Her grandsons live hours away, but that doesn’t stop her from spending precious time with them. She makes the trip to visit them, often bringing them home with her to spend time together in our hometown. During those visits, she is intentional about scheduling a photo session with me, turning their time together into something tangible, something they will always remember.
One of our earliest sessions together was in the fall and included the extended family. Great-Grandmother and Great-Uncle in tow, we walked along the banks of the Flint River in Bainbridge, GA and ended the session with a visit from Santa, complete with photos of the boys in an old Model A truck. That old truck held a special place in my heart. It belonged to my father-in-law, who passed away not too long after that season of Santa Petites. Including it in their session made the experience even more meaningful. It became more than just a photo, it became a shared memory between our families, and a reminder of how quickly time passes, and just how meaningful a simple portrait session can be to a family.

In the seasons that have followed, we have continued the tradition of Santa sessions. Last year, Santa surprised the boys with his grand entrance into my studio. His visit brought wide eyes and pure joy, the magic was real, and it was unforgettable. I live for these kind of moments with my smallest clients. This past fall, we gathered together once again for another extended family session at our local tree farm. They were able to run among the Christmas trees, and explore the beauty of the country. Seeing the boys grow in front of my camera, always surrounded by the love of their family, especially their grandmother, is such an honor.

If you’re a grandparent or loved one who wants to preserve the chapter you’re living right now with your little ones, I’d be honored to help you do just that. These are more than portraits. They’re pieces of your story, held in the hands of those who will one day look back and remember how deeply they were loved. I photograph families in Bainbridge, Tallahassee, and the surrounding areas. I’d love to help you capture the legacy you’re building, one meaningful moment at at time.

Let’s create something meaningful.
