There is something about witnessing two people choose one another that moves me deeply.

The depth of my own heart and the tenderness found in that kind of love bring a joy to my soul that is difficult to put into words.

Maybe it is because I am a hopeless romantic at heart. Maybe it is because after more than three decades of marriage, I understand that love is not only found in the grand moments, but in the small ones too. The way someone looks at you when no one else is watching. The laughter you share. The little memories that become woven together into the story of a lifetime.

The Heart Behind My Storytelling

I have come to realize that I am, at my core, a storyteller.

As a photographer serving Bainbridge, Georgia, Southwest Georgia, and the Tallahassee, Florida area, I don’t simply photograph people. I photograph people in seasons of life that matter.

When you trust me with your story, I don’t simply show up with a camera. I invest my heart in understanding what makes your connection, your family, and your season unlike anyone else’s. The Heart Behind a Meaningful Proposal

Recently, I had the honor of photographing a young couple whose story began in ninth grade. Their relationship had grown through years of friendship, memories, and choosing one another, eventually leading to a moment that would mark the beginning of their next chapter.

A proposal.

But the story of this moment actually began long before he got down on one knee.

It began with a boyfriend who wanted more than a beautiful location or a picture-perfect moment. He wanted this proposal to be special. He wanted it to be meaningful. He wanted the woman he loved to feel how much thought and intention went into the moment when he asked her to become his forever.

Behind the Moment: Planning a Proposal With Intention

Planning a proposal takes time, trust, and attention to detail. It is about so much more than finding a beautiful location and creating a photograph. It takes conversations, phone calls, texts, and thoughtful planning to make sure the person asking the question feels confident and the person receiving it feels completely surprised.

Because the truth is, proposals are filled with nerves.

There are the jitters while planning. The anticipation. The questions running through his mind. The desire to make sure everything goes just right.

But then the moment arrives.

And all of those nerves fade away.

The planning, the details, and the uncertainty are replaced by a decision. A resolve. A man standing in front of the woman he loves, ready to ask her to step into the next chapter of their story.

Watching that unfold was a reminder of why I am drawn to photographing connection.

Before there is a wedding, there is a promise.

Before there is a family, there is a love story.

Before there are years of memories, there is a single moment where someone chooses someone else.

That is what I want my clients to feel when they choose me.
